Eli's Restaurant Group Holds First Annual Farm Dinner
All Local Food and Beverage Purveyors
Benefiting two local non-profits
Think Local! Eli’s Restaurant Group will be hosting the first Annual Farm Dinner on Saturday, September 11, 2010 from 6-10 pm at Hindinger Farm 835 Dunbar Hill Road, Hamden. Everything served at the dinner will be from Connecticut vendors ~ #1 Fish, Hamden; Liuzzi Cheese, North Haven; Nodine's Smokehouse, Torrington; Hindinger Farm, Hamden; Thomas Hooker Brewery, Bloomfield; Jonathan Edwards Vineyards, North
Stonington; Buck's Ice Cream to name a few.
The menu for the night is anything but ordinary. To start, a wide variety of 13 passed appetizers including bacon wrapped goat cheese stuffed figs, strawberry prosciutto sandwiches, duck sweet potato gaufrettes, mini brick oven pizzas, Kobe sliders, brochette station, veggie crudités. A choice of caprese or the famous Eli’s signature salad. Followed by a variety of entrees and sides including beef tenderloin, airline chicken and swordfish, grilled vegetables, corn and sweet potatoes. To finish off the night, some mouth watering desserts including pies, tiramisu and tarts ~ no one is going to leave hungry. And what would a Farm Dinner be without hay rides, tours of the farm and live musical entertainment from Mean Carlene to dance the night away under the stars.

A portion of the nights proceeds will be donated to "City Seed" and to "Let's Move," A nationwide initiative promoting making healthy choices, improving food quality in schools, increasing access to healthy, affordable food, and increasing physical activity in children.
City Seed is a dynamic, community-based nonprofit organization based in New Haven, CT that seeks to engage the community in growing an equitable, local food system that promotes economic development, community development and sustainable agriculture. From its beginning, CitySeed has worked to overcome the challenges urban residents encounter in accessing local, healthy food while supporting the viability of farming in Connecticut. CitySeed is a very collaborative organization and works closely with a variety of stakeholders in New Haven and throughout Connecticut to ensure the effectiveness and reach of its programming.
The Let's Move: America's move to raise a healthier generation of kids. Let's Move campaign will combat the epidemic of childhood obesity through a comprehensive approach that builds on effective strategies, and mobilizes public and private sector resources. Let's Move will engage every sector impacting the health of children to achieve the national goal, and will provide schools, families and communities simple tools to help kids be more active, eat better and get healthy.
